Local Businesses “Take Action” in United Way of Defiance County Day of Caring 2014
DEFIANCE, OHIO (OCTOBER 21, 2014) –
Friday, October 17th was the United Way of Defiance County’s annual Day of Caring. Day of Caring is a community-wide effort to showcase volunteerism on a larger scale, and to demonstrate what people working together for the community's good can accomplish. This year, Shultz Huber & Associates, Inc., sent a group of employees to seal the wood porch and ramps at House of Ruth. Additionally, ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital sent a group of employees to paint rooms at the Path Center. First Insurance Group and Weaner, Yoder, Hill and Weber also sent employees to help with winter shut down tasks at Camp Libbey.
“We are very thankful for our local businesses support both financially and through volunteerism in Defiance County. Both Shultz Huber & Associates, Inc., and ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital were also in our Top Ten Company Campaigns for 2013. It’s incredible to see local companies show leadership in giving as well as lending a hand to our neighbors,” said Savanna Weber, Marketing and Community Engagement Center Director.
In addition to growing their new campaign donors, United Way of Defiance County announced their mission to build a community of volunteers for their 2014 campaign launch. There are over 20 agencies and organizations with volunteer and in-kind donation needs posted to the Community Engagement Center (CEC). Most of the needs are ongoing, and United Way of Defiance County is hopeful that local companies and individuals will use it as a resource when they are looking for ways to help Defiance County. United Way of Defiance County challenges the community to create their own “Day of Caring” by clicking the Community Engagement Center link from their homepage: www.unitedwaydefiance.org and take action in Defiance County.
