UNITED WAY OF DEFIANCE COUNTY COVID-19 EMERGENCY FUND

GIVE TO THE EMERGENCY FUND TODAY.

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the country and Ohio, United Way of Defiance County has been strategically working on our response.

Like many of you, our internal team is assessing the situation daily, remaining vigilant, and following all recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health authorities.
While we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we also are determined to provide continued service to the community. We are taking steps to ensure we can continue to deliver the same high level of quality and engagement during these unique circumstances.

The United Way of Defiance County’s Board of Directors, staff, committee members, and volunteers have collectively developed the following:

  • Funded agency partners: United Way of Defiance County distributed partner agency quarterly allocations early in order to help with cash flow during this crisis.
  • Local philanthropy: We are asking local funders and individuals to donate to United Way of Defiance County’s newly formed United Way of Defiance County COVID-19 Emergency Fund which United Way of Defiance County, Meijer, and American Electric Power (AEP) has invested an initial $30,000.

100% of what is raised will be directly invested back into our community’s most pressing needs. United Way of Defiance County will not be charging or receiving administration costs and will work alongside our most-valued community nonprofits in an effort to have the most immediate impact.

As we navigate this unprecedented time of uncertainty together, we believe our community will respond with compassion and extend a helping hand to our neighbors in need. Change doesn’t happen alone. We ask for the partnership of every person across the community in resourcing life-changing solutions for individuals and families that live in Defiance County.

There is a new financial incentive for Americans to give generously to qualifying charities, including United Way of Defiance County and many of our community partners. Read more about this new tax break here
