Signs of Suicide: Maumee Valley Guidance Center

Reduces the stigma associated with mental health, andincreases awareness and education of depression.  Signs of Suicide is offered to all freshmen health classes in the Defiance County school district, and it teaches the action steps individuals should take if they experience the signs of depression or suicide within themselves or see the signs in a friend

PROMISE Program: Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio

The program addresses quality of life issues and appropriate referral services; including transportation to and from dialysis, prescription medications, nutritional supplements, and medical equipment to patients suffering from kidney disease. Provides and organizes a coordinated continuum of services empowering patients to manage kidney disease. 

Sight Conservation: Sight Conservation of Defiance County

Provides sight care to residents of Defiance County who are in need. This includes vision exams, glasses, special needs, sight therapy, special medical treatment and surgery.

Back Pack Buddy: United Way of Defiance County

Provides kid-friendly and nutritious food 35 weekends of the school year for children who qualify for free and reduced lunches at all public elementary schools in Defiance County.

Path Center Transportation: NOCAC

Provides rides to and from a comfortable place that people can enjoy a free nutritious meal, activities and socialization in a healthy and non-judgmental atmosphere. It is an opportunity to prevent isolation for community members with limited income, mental illness or in the recovery process.

Counseling: The Center for Child and Family Advocacy

Staff are able to assess if a person's physical or mental health status is declining and seek professional help if needed. Provides therapy for individuals affected by abusive behaviors such as sexual assault and domestic violence as well as other mental health issues. Treatments available include individual, family, and marital counseling, as well as play, sand tray and group therapy. Also provided are parenting programs, bullying prevention programming and education programs for schools, churches, and the community at large.

Dedicated to addressing Defiance's unique health and well-being needs through a fund established in partnership with the PDRH Foundation Board.
